Marinka Kartalija, M.D.

Marinka Kartalija, M.D. was born in Zagreb, Croatia where she started her training as a physician. She then moved to the United States in 1988 to pursue research in the field of infectious disease at San Francisco General Hospital. Working in San Francisco during the early years of the AIDS epidemic sparked her initial interest and generated her continuing passion for the field of infectious disease. In her spare time, Dr. Kartalija enjoys traveling back to Croatia with her children, practicing yoga, Nordic skiing, buying stylish boots, and cycling.
