Travel Clinic DenverInternational Health and Safety Education

Our Travel Clinic in Denver offers adults and children itinerary-specific travel advice from physicians who specialize in the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases.  Travelers leaving the United States for Africa, Central and South America, Southeast Asia and other destinations often require preventive medicine to protect them from serious diseases not typically found in the U.S.

An appointment at the Travel Clinic will include a meeting with an infectious disease physician who will recommend a vaccination program tailored to the diseases common to your destination. We will educate you on the required and recommended vaccinations and precautions for your international trip.  Your physician can discuss the following topics with you:

  • Safe food and water practices
  • Prescriptions for antibiotics for traveler’s diarrhea
  • Protection from insect bites
  • Malaria risk based on your itinerary and, if appropriate, anti-malarial prophylaxis
  • Advice on altitude sickness, motion sickness, jet lag and sun exposure
  • Obtaining healthcare overseas
  • Special advice for travelers with chronic diseases, pregnant women or families traveling with children
  • Follow-up consultation for travel related illness

During your consultation, we will provide you with Vaccine Information Statements that will explain in detail the risks and benefits of each vaccine. We will also prescribe any recommended medications and discuss the potential of treatment necessary upon your return.
